I have a confession. I’m pausing the New Rules of Lifting for Women workouts. Since my car accident a month ago I have been experiencing back pain. I took a break for the first few weeks after the accident and then slowly started incorporating the workouts again. I managed to finish Stage 4. But it wasn’t pretty. So when I am feeling 100% again I will continue the program.
On a more positive note, in a few weeks I go to Mexico! And per usual, I’m not totally happy with how I’m looking. (Running also exacerbates the back pain) Therefore, my plan until I leave is to do a shortened, but more intense version of Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred. I’ve done the program before and loved it! In addition, I’ve usually included runs or walks a few days a week, since the indoor workout video doesn’t give the fresh air advantage that an outdoor workout does.
What is my more intense version? I plan on doing 2 stages per day. Last night I did stage 1 with weights and stage 2 without (I was getting tired). Tonight I plan on doing stage 2 with weights and stage 3 without. I’ll keep rotating the videos as the weeks continue. Or, once daylight savings starts on Sunday, I may be able to get a run/walk in as well as one video.
The thing I like best about vacation is the ability to get longer runs and walks in, and be able to eat more intuitively versus my regular life where I’m in the car far too much and always tired and short on time. I’m looking forward to getting a break from the everyday, as well as officially starting my half marathon training while on the vacation!
