Hello friends! April is here and with that also means the year is 1/4 over. Which means I “should” be 25% done with my goals….hmm. We’ll see.
#1 (Run a half marathon) Last week I officially started training for the Garry Bjorklund half marathon. I’ll be doing my long runs on Saturday or Sunday depending on how the week is going, and the actual race is on a Saturday. I’m still looking for a 10 k race for the end of May, please let me know if you know of one in Minnesota (preferably in the Twin Cities or Duluth).
#2 (Learn 12 new recipes) Well I just had a little fight with the freezer, which means I will be using the rest of my Spaghetti Squash soon…..I guess I didn’t cook much in March. Although I did make Lemon Chicken Piccata on Leap Day after I did my February recap.
#3 (Put my college pictures into photo albums) I bite the bullet and ordered photos from Walgreens, a few days later I went to pick them up, only to discover I must have done something wrong, because the order never went through! I am no where near the 25% done mark here. So I better get going!
#4 (Create a race scrapbook) I had a day where I was going to the Scrapbook and More store, and then I rolled my ankle. So I still need to get going on this too. (I really hope I’m not still talking about this in November).
#5 (Make 12 time or money donations to various charities and/or nonprofits.) I never actually bought Girl Scout cookies this year, although I did have a few intense cravings for tagalongs. I suppose there was no other donating….I’ll have to step it up soon!
#6 (Learn to blog!) I’m still going strong, but I need to work on tagging my posts and maybe see how I can get my name to better appear in search engines. I share a name with an “adult entertainer”, so she tends to take precedence in search terms.
#7 (Finish the New Rules of Lifting For Women program.) Officially suspended due to the small car accident I was involved with in February. I’m hoping I’ll start again towards the end of April or May.
#8 (Remember to be Thankful.) A friend of mine was recently in a car accident, and while I worry about him, I remember that there are wonderful healers out there and he’s getting the best help possible.
#9 (Get a better handle on finances.) Now that I’ve got my year end bonus, and I got my taxes back, I’m feeling much more secure. Now I just need a formal budget so I don’t get out of control.
#10 (Get least 10 minutes of fitness each day.) My march workouts weren’t great, but I have big hopes for April!
#11 (Do 5 minutes of clean up each day.) I’ve been doing pretty good on that lately! Today I went through my mail and had file, future, throw piles which was very helpful. Now I need to use all the good coupons that I’ve gotten recently!
#12 (Take the time to breathe.) I just spent the last week in Mazatlan, Mexico (more posts on the topic to come!). Plenty of breathing was had, although there were a few times when I had to remind myself to chill out (family time can get a little stressful). Now the trick will be taking time to breathe while still sticking to my training schedule!
All in all: March came and went very quickly! And I’m sure April will be no different. I’m excited to officially start my half training and am looking forward to Summer!
