Apparently today is National Running Day! And while last year I was training and participating in 5ks, the holiday never made it on my calendar.
“ABOUT NATIONAL RUNNING DAY
National Running Day, held annually on the first Wednesday in June, is a day when runners everywhere declare their passion for running. It is a coast-to-coast celebration of a sport and activity that’s simple, inexpensive, and fun. It’s the perfect way for longtime runners to reaffirm their love of running and for beginners to kick off a lifetime and life-changing commitment. “Source
In honor of the day, I skipped going on the bike ride I planned on doing, and instead went down to lakewalk to get a run in. I’ll admit it wasn’t my best run (and good runs have been few and far between in the last few weeks) however I was happy to get my legs moving!
My tapering has officially started, my plan is to bike tomorrow, rest Friday, run 8 on Saturday, and then do what I can Sunday-Thursday (I have no idea what is in store for my while I am traveling for work). Friday I’ll be flying and hope to elevate my legs as much as possible. And then Saturday is race day!!
Until then, I’m working on my final playlist for the race, if you have a song recommendation please pass it along!
