I may never be a blogger who posts every day, or even on a regular schedule. And I think that’s okay! While most New Years Resolutions are already posted, I’ve been taking my time this year in declaring “official resolutions”.
When I was younger I would think of weight loss as the perfect resolution, especially with a birthday at the end of April if I started in January it would all come off in time for some good celebrating and summer! The last few years I have focused on running goals, the 5 -5ks of 2011, the half marathon of 2012, and this year I am already signed up for Grandma’s Marathon.
However in 2011 and 2012 once I accomplished the running goal, my fitness levels dropped, and so weight loss never happened. At the end of 2012 I completed a 6 week holiday challenge that had me taking 5 yoga classes a week. And I loved it! It got me back into loving workouts and allowed me to not be so negative about the laziness I encountered from July through October.
The 2012 Dirty Dozen of New Years Resolutions were great for keeping me on track, but I’m not upping it to 13 resolutions this year. Instead I’m going to commit to staying healthy. I really hope I finish Grandma’s Marathon. I also really hope that I keep my activity level throughout 2013. I hope I keep trying new things and don’t get caught in a rut of laziness, or workouts that are lackluster. But by focusing on “healthy” I can incorporate a myriad of things, including but not limited to: eating healthy, mental health, heart health, dental health (2012 was an expensive year in my teeth), and fiscal health (I’d prefer not to have any personal fiscal cliffs).
So officially: My 2013 New Years Resolutions, are
1. Complete Grandma’s Marathon
2. Stay Healthy.
