My Week in Photos

Last week I was busy each night attending Miss Aitkin Pageant practice. I was a candidate back in 2005, and have been on the committee off and on for the past few years. Its a fun week of getting to know the young ladies who are about to be Seniors in High School, and the current royalty who are about to go off to college.Miss Aitkin 2013This photo is after they finished their opening number dance. Sadly I had to skip the actual pageant because I had a wedding to attend.

Peplum DressThis is not the most flattering photo, but I bought a new dress at Hot Mama (not a maternity store). And the necklace was from Primp. I also got myself a new haircut, and while sitting in the chair I realized it had been about half a year since I had gotten a haircut. (No my cut is not uneven, I just had my head tilted apparently).

The wedding was an absolute blast and at the Landmark Center in St. Paul, we all stayed at the St. Paul Hotel (which was across the street) so no one had to worry about driving.

The next morning (Saturday) I woke up early and headed back towards home so I could drive Miss Aitkin and the 1st and 2nd Princesses in a convertible for the Riverboat Days Parade. After the parade I hung out with friends and enjoyed making fun of the newest feature on facebook, where you can add your feelings “feeling excited” was our theme of the evening. I made a quick stop at the street dance but ultimately went to bed early, one late night per weekend is enough for me!

Since the past week had been so stressful, I knew I wanted to spend some time on the lake on Sunday. Thankfully I had friends who agreed with me!

Boating on Cedar LakeI drove us around each of the bays, going into spots we usually don’t venture in, and once we warmed up, took a quick jump in the water!

Greek Pasta SaladSunday nights dinner was stretched into Monday and Tuesday’s lunch. I made a greek pasta salad with orzo pasta, newman’s own balsamic vinaigrette, golden cherry tomatoes, cucumber, onion, kalamata olive, and feta cheese! It was super delicious (although I do recognize it was missing protein).

DQ Cupcake

After a few good workouts, I was hanging out with a couple friends and we decided a Dairy Queen trip was in order. We found the coolest thing ever, DQ Cupcakes. Aka, Dairy Queen cake in a cup! It was the best $2.99 I’ve ever spent.

What have you been up to lately? Do you like Dairy Queen cake as much as I do?!

  1. I don’t know if I’ve ever had a dairy queen cupcake? I think I’ve had an ice cream cake from there, which of course I loved!! I am a softie for ice cream though, so basically anything with ice cream is awesome to me! hahaha

  2. Dairy Queen has a special place in my heart. My first trip was when my family first arrived in Spokane. We had been driving for 3 days and had finally made it to our new home and we were hungry. We went to DQ for dinner and I was introduced to the dipped cone. Yum and a half.

  3. I love that dress, girl! I have a similar one in tan. We didn’t have DQ in Louisiana when I was growing up, so I have only been there a handful of times. Now they built a DQ WITH food and my parents seem to love it.

    • DQ with food is my favorite, the chicken strip basket is definitely not healthy, but so stinking delicious! Thanks for the dress compliment! I was nervous, but I think it was perfect for a wedding.

  4. Love your haircut AND the peplum dress from Hot Mama. Great outfit. I’m not a huge fan of DQ cake…I like the crunchy bits on the inside, and that’s about it. 🙂
