Motivating Myself to Run and WALK! (Couch to 5k Update)

*this is a sponsored post on behalf of Skechers, but I always tell the truth. Mainly because I’m a terrible liar.

My motivation for workouts has always been for health AND happiness.ย  The Couch to 5k training has been a wonderful reset this fall. When I’m having a bad day and getting frustrated, walking is a great way to unwind. But if I’m especially wound up, I find that running releases my stress quickly and safely. Meeting up for a walk with a friend is also a great way to share what’s going on in life, without adding calories that aren’t needed.

Skechers Go Walk AwarenessWhen Skechers reached out to me about the Performance Division shoes and their Breast Cancer Awareness campaign, the GoWalk2 – Awareness shoe caught my eye.

Super comfortable, supportive, and designed to be sockless means that these are the perfect shoe for me to keep in my car. I can meet up with a friend and grab a quick walk without making sure I packed socks. Fresh air is 100% better than a quick beer in a dark bar. I’m especially excited to wear them at Walt Disney World during the Princess Half Weekend!

And as we start to prepare for the holidays, its important to know how our loved ones are doing. October is a wonderful time to do all the checkups you need, especially as it is Breast Cancer Awareness month.

GO WALK Awareness 2 SkechersSkechers is supporting Breast Cancer research through the American Cancer Association, which is my preferred organization to donate to (but that’s a conversation for another day). Check out the Skechers Awareness shoes and let me know which style you would pick! For those of you near a Skechers retail store, customers who donate $5 or more, will receive a 20% off discount for their next visit!

Thank you to Skechers for sponsoring today’s post.

    • Haha thanks dear! I definitely have been on the dark bar side of things lately, but need to keep taking advantage of this weather!

    • Cleaning is a great one! But I need a couple hours (my room is a mess!) Hopefully I get some time this weekend.

  1. Your sponsored post disclaimer is the best I’ve ever read! <3

Walking is my favorite and sometimes I think I'd rather walk a half-marathon than run one..but then I have one of those really good runs and I remember I like running too. So run-walking it is! ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Amanda, you beat me to the punch! Katie, I 100% second her statement about your disclaimer. I want to steal it for my own blog soooo badly, but I’m as good a thief as I am a liar, lol.

In other news, I LOVE the idea of walking shoes that are meant to be worn sock-less. Do you find your feet getting sweaty in them? I have house shoes that I wear all the time I’m at home (except when sleeping, of course), but I absolutely cannot stand wearing them sock-less because my feet get all sweaty and uncomfortable. If these eliminate the sweat factor than I would totally want to get them!

      • You can totally steal the disclaimer! I don’t think my feet sweat anymore than normal while wearing them. I’m not a fan of socks, so these shoes are perfect for me!

  2. Shoes that are meant to be worn WITHOUT socks?!?! I need these ASAP! I really hate socks…like “don’t care that my feet get stinky without them” hate them ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Get them! I’ve been wearing them for the last week without socks and haven’t had a smell issue yet!

    • Thank you for stopping by! I loved the toe box of the GO Run 3s, but had no need for another pair of running shoes in my closet!

    • Yes! I’m bummed they aren’t available on the website anymore, but the Run3 shoes are also super cute!

  4. What an unbelievable campaign we’ve been able to be apart of. Great review on the walking shoes. I really liked the sentence “Meeting up for a walk with a friend is also a great way to share whatโ€™s going on in life, without adding calories that arenโ€™t needed.”… so very true!
