TC 10 Mile 2015 Recap

Happy Monday my friends! I’m typing this Sunday night before I dive into homework. Here’s a recap of the

4:30 am – UP! I actually got up to go to the bathroom around 3:30 and didn’t go back to sleep after that….but two cups of coffee later I was alright.

TC 10 Mile Start

6:30 am – Wait for the start! Despite signing up as a team…my team was divided into different corrals. I snuck into theirs (yes I know that’s naughty) but held my own slower pace.

7:30 am – Realize that I am a triathlete. My body was so confused that I was running without swimming and biking first. I knew my lack of training (but 2x weekly yoga) was going to slow me down. But I did not expect all the weird aches and pains for the entire race. I ran the first two miles, and after that started to follow the run 6 min, walk 1 min plan that my watch is set to.

Black Lives Matter Twin Cities Marathon

8:30 am I did see two runners wearing Black Lives Matter shirts, as far as I’ve heard everything was fairly peaceful, which is good. I’m all for awareness, but also safety.

As I mentioned, I had aches and pains throughout the race. Left knee, right hip, left toe, low back. It wasn’t pretty. I need to get new shoes ASAP and need to get back into the 3 mile routine so I can safely increase my mileage.

TC 10 Mile Finish

The Capitol is getting redone so it doesn’t photograph all that great, but I loved the huge flag they hung as we were finishing. I attempted to sprint the finish, but ran out of gas, so I guess I really did leave it on the course.

Finishers Beer

Thankfully the free Summit Beer was delicious. After the race my friends and I had planned on going out to brunch, but ended up ordering pizza and hanging at home, it was awesome!

Did you race this weekend? How did it go??

  1. Congrats on your race! I’m always in awe of people who run, I used to run, but only managed to complete a 5K a couple of times. It’s hard work for sure!!

  2. Congrats on your race! Sounds like it confirmed that you are a triathlete but it’s good to figure these things out for yourself! I had nothing left when I finished either so I definitely left it all out on the course!

  3. Nice job! I love the pics of the different points in the race. I don’t run so it’s fun to see it from a runner’s perspective.

    • Thank you for stopping by!!! Since I wasn’t gunning for a PR I figured I could enjoy the race and take plenty of photos. Someday I’ll start really gunning for a certain time, but for now its good to have fun!

    • Thank you! My cold is almost gone, but I still haven’t gotten around to the running store…soon!

    • Haha, I’m not sure how many more running days I have left in me. But I do love yoga and cycle classes!
