Sooo I’m an idiot. Starting a new job and the MBA program at the same time…not recommended. Also, MBA orientation was the same day as bike check-in for the Superiorman. So I missed the MBA specific portion of orientation. Also, the night I was supposed to buy books, I made a wrong turn and was horribly delayed getting to campus. So I bought my books one day before class started, and the first homework was naturally due TWO days before class started. I made it work. I’m not telling you how, but if you find yourself in a similarly stuck position, I can probably figure out a way to get you able to submit homework a day before you do the actual reading.
1 Class Down….
Thank goodness I read one of the books ahead of time, but there is a ton of stuff due on Saturday at 11 pm, and Monday at 11 pm. Plus Wednesday I have to give a 7 minute presentation. I was planning on going to a happy hour on Thursday, but now I know I have to go home after work to start my homework, and catch a yoga class.
1 Week Down… We were assigned to watch this video (Your Body Language Shapes Who You Are.) for class. And it made me feel so much better!! I’m doing homework at times of the night when I’d rather be sleeping, or getting together with friends. Instead I am where I am supposed to be, and I’m faking it, until I become it.
1 month Down….
Things are getting better. I am always working a couple assignments ahead as it helps reduce my stress levels. I’ve found that it can be beneficial to work on MBA homework during my lunch hour at work. I can’t get a ton done, but I can at least get my brain thinking and then dive right in when I am done with work for the day.
I also worked the system on the first few books by purchasing the audio book. I was driving up north each weekend and didn’t have 6 hours to dedicate to reading the books that were assigned, by listening to the book on my drive I was able to do double duty.
For those of you who have completed graduate course while working…do you have any tips for me?? Or is anyone considering a new program and want more details on what life is like?
