Don’t Wait: Buy the Flowers

One of the things I’m doing this year is buying more flowers. I’m living in a small space, but there is room on my table for flowers….as long as no one is joining me for dinner, then they go on my nightstand.

don't wait buy the flowers

While its hard to see the flowers eventually die (I wish there was a better way to say that) It is so fun to add the color to my living space. Its not a habit I can probably sustain every single week, but I’m usually shopping at Trader Joe’s and they have beautiful/inexpensive ones.

Of course saying “don’t wait” is the opposite of my word of 2016. But if I want flowers, why the heck can’t I have them? Because its not my birthday? Or I’m not celebrating a promotion? Or I’m not getting “I’m sorry” flowers from someone? (BTW, I’m sorry flowers are the absolute worst kind of flowers.)

So I’m not waiting for the perfect moment, I’m buying flowers on a random day because I can.

What are you not waiting for, and just doing?

  1. Wonderful idea….buying flowers. If you get fresh alstroemerias they will last a whole week. Age wise I consider myself “playing the back nine” so I am NOT waiting to travel more. Very cute ski resorts are on my list. NO SKING required! Aspen, Park City top the list. Telluride was spectacular, so was Jackson Hole and Lake Placid.

  2. I used to love buying flowers for myself when I lived in Milwaukee! Every time I went to Trader Joes I’d get some. They don’t really sell inexpensive/pretty flowers where I shop up here, but every time I make a trip to TJs, I get some for myself. 🙂 I love it! I think it really livens up the place.

  3. I love the idea of buying yourself flowers – that is something I want to do more often this summer when the farmer’s markets are open. If I lived closer to a TJ’s I would buy some there as they are so inexpensive. I think it’s a great and fairly inexpensive way to brighten up your home!
