MN Arb Life – Free!

MN Arb Life

On Saturday I joined MN Community at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. Usually a $13 entrance fee, the Arb is free of charge through the month of January! The expected temps for next weekend are above zero, so I just might be going again!

What to wear winter walking

I’ll be wearing a similar outfit next week even with the warmer temps. You can’t tell, but I had a sweater, hooded sweatshirt, 2 pairs of fleece lined leggings, as well as the Eddie Bauer Stadium jacket.

Next week I’ll add another layer of leggings, and a headband that covers my ears. The hat and hood were good, but the hood reduced my peripheral vision.

The hot pink neck gator I’ve had for years, and you can’t go wrong with it. much warmer than a scarf that can slip down as you’re moving.

What are your go-to clothing items for battling cold weather? Any favorites I need to add to my collection?

  1. We loved the arboretum when we lived there, and it is a beautiful place to enjoy during all four seasons. Glad you stayed warm!

  2. I’ve lived in Minneapolis for over 10 years and have never gone to the Arboretum! I need to get there sometime as I have heard that it’s beautiful.

I tackle the cold the same way you do – lots of layers! When I run I usually only wear one layer of pants but the coldest weather I’ve ran in is 9 degrees so if it’s colder than that, I’d have to add another layer and would probably wear these pants that I got for XC skiing that block the wind. I also wear a gaitor and 2 hats – one is a thinner one that tends to absorb sweat, the other is a thick one to keep me extra warm.
