Wait, Release

I like things to go my way. I don’t think I’m unique in that. I think we all have an idea of how we want things to go. And when they don’t….we can either accept it, or keep fighting for it. Some things are worth the fight.

wait release

However I’ve found recently that its best to release control, accept things as they come. You can ask questions and offer alternatives, but you can’t control everything. The next few weeks are all about releasing control. Let things happen, do the best you can with what you have.

Do you go with the flow? Or are you directing the traffic?

  1. It depends. Certain situations have layers. There’s a layer of acceptance about it (for example, I can’t change the person) but there’s also a layer that allows me to direct traffic, so to speak (how much I am around him/her, how I react to him/her).

  2. I am a control freak and unfortunately it leads to a lot of anxiety in my life. I love this. Giving up control and realizing I can’t control everything is something I need to work on. And one thing I can control? How I react to situations – so if something happens that I can’t control, I CAN control how I let it make me feel. Love this, Katie!

  3. Oh my gosh, this resonates so much with me! I’m currently doing the last group project of the MBA (which will be your turn sooner than you think!!), and I’m finding the exact same thing — find what’s worth fighting for, and let go of all the things that aren’t. The flow isn’t always as far away from my “ideal” as I sometimes let myself believe. So great to read that someone else is having similar reflections lately!

  4. I’m a control freak so letting it go when things don’t go my way is a real challenge. I like to think that I’ve gotten a bit better at it as I’ve aged but I still have room for opportunity in that aspect of my life. 😉
